...two stunning silk beaded devoré fringed shawls were used to make our front open drape caftan and added a dreamy silk charmeuse sash to cinch the front. The belt goes around the waist and is inserted through two small slits and can adjust to all sizes leaving the back free flowing. I made the holes only 1" wide so they are inconspicuous enough that you can also wear without the belt and not notice the holes where the belt is inserted....and you can also wear with a more casual belt that is also included in a faux suede braided tassel.
Made in a drop dead gorgeous black 100% silk velvet burnout with beautiful contrasting florals finished with lots of magical hand beading. Burnout velvet gives off that magical stained glass window effect with a luxe quality that feels like a dream...all finished off with silk beaded tassels that dances beautifully

The velvet burnout process, or "Dévoré" as it is also referred, is achieved by applying an acid to a natural, protein fiber (silk) and natural non-protein fiber (rayon). The acid "burns out" the non-protein fiber leaving only the sheer woven silk and hence, creating elaborate and intricate designs. This fabrics is of the highest quality, and is very expensive to manufacture.
The art deco designs on the shawls used to make these beauties are based on 1920s prints and give an amazing stained glass glow when backlit. The silk part of the fabric becomes very sheer, almost transparent. Often referred to as "wearable art", I promise that once you lay your hands on one of these, you will not ever want to take it off.
